How to Delete/Clear Browser Cookies on the iPad or iPhone

By

Browser cookies are special files use by a web browser that lets a website know that you have been there before. They were originally meant to give the user a better web browsing experience by remembering their actions or storing small pieces of information for later. But web sites have used them to track a person's movement and actions when browsing. They have become the number one mechanism for a website to invade their user's privacy. Like all web browsers, the iPhone and iPad allow web sites to save cookies on them to track a person's usage. Fortunately, you can delete the browser cookies on the iOS and prevent web sites from spying on what you have done. This is especially useful if you want to erase all tracks of where you have been or if you are sharing your iPhone or iPad.

Step 1

Start up the “Settings” application on your device.

Step 2

Settings is the main application for most of the settings on the iPhone or iPad. Unfortunately, the Settings application has many options. You will mostly likely have to scroll down to locate the “Safari” option.

Step 3

On the Safari options window, select the “Clear Cookies” option. You can also set your iPhone to not accept any more cookies in the “Accept Cookies” option.

Step 4

Confirm that you want to delete your browser cookies by selecting “Clear Cookies”.  That is all. You may want to shut down your device and start it back up to be sure that the cookies have been deleted.
